Windows Sysinternals

 

The Windows Sysinternal Suite is a set of tools which technicians can use in order to diagnose issues, to fix problems related to network, system or hard disks and to gather detailed information about the host. One of the most known utilities is Autoruns, which identifies what programs are configured to startup automatically when your system boots and you login

CurrPorts

 

CurrPorts is an utiity that shows in real time all open TCP/UDP ports on the machine where it's ran. It can be used as a part of a troubleshooting process, as it can identify all processes, with several related information, that are connecting towards and from the machine.

DownTester

 

DownTester is an utility that can be used to test connection speed towards and from custom Websites. This tool accepts a text file with URLs to test, or you can just add them manually.

WebBrowserPass Tool

WebBrowserPass Tool by Nirsoft is a simple software that can show in clear all passwords stored into main browsers, like Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera. Once exracted, they can be exported to a text file.

MailPass View

MailPass View is a tool that can retrieve and show passwords saved into main email clients, like Outlook, Thunderbird and Windows Live Mail. Once extracted, they can be exported to a text file.

mRemoteNG

mRemoteNG is a handy Open Source tool for the management of multiple remote sessions. It supports the main protocols (such as RDP, SSH, ICA, Telnet and HTTPS) and offer an organization of sessions by folders and subfolders, with a browser tabs a-like structure of all the simultaneous open connections.

VMware Converter

VMware Converter is a free tool by VMware that allows the conversion of physical Linux and Windows hosts and third-party virtual machines into VMware virtual machines.

With this software you can perform P2V (Physical-to-Virtual) and V2V (Virtual-to-Virtual) migrations in an easy and intuitive way, as it can be installed on a Windows client and insert the IP addresses of the source host and the destination host (in case of a P2V migration). Converter then performs the migration by installing a dedicated agent tool on the source machine. During the migration procedure it's even possible to tweak the main parameters of the destination VM.

With its latest 6.1 release, Converter also supports Windows 10 and Hyper-V v3 virtual machines.

ESXi Embedded Host Client

ESXi Embedded Host Client is a tool for Web management of ESXi hosts, even the free version and without vCenter. ESXi Host Client can be easily installed via SSH on the ESXi host to control and offers a Web Client complete with all the features available with the classic Windows vSphere Client.

It can be very handy in those situations when there is the need to manage an ESXi host on a non-Windows client; it's a recent project with an on-going development, several bugs have been identified on ESXi 5.0 and 5.5
